Mia
graduated from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School and
flying back to her beloved Genovia with Joe (her bodyguard) and FatLouie (cat). The fist impression of the viewer on Mia, is hold back
for a fair amount of time as her face was not shown till she appears
on her 21st birthday party. From the beginning it is
proved that Mia has successfully followed her Princess lessons as she
behaved calmly and without making a fuss of everything she touches as
in Princess Diaries 1. Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) reveals at beginning, even before
her face is shown on screen (of course not the pre-princess face)
that she has not fall in love yet.
The
eyes which were looking for the Prince charming rested on the eyes of
a handsome young man who happened to bump into her at the birthday
party. The humour is present almost everywhere without harming the
royalty values and flow of the story. Humour is weaved through the
(traditional) dancing with all the eligible bachelors and along with
the maids' habits of shadowing the Princess every now and then which
result in Princess whispering in her own castle to hide from the
maids.
Mia's
Princess lessons were always well fed with humour. The lesson on how
to Shoot the flaming arrow to the ceremonial ring made
all the people and objects in the garden, victims. The spare
leg for horse riding promised to be a hilarious one. Somehow the
spare leg could not make a happy ending while, shooting the arrow
made a romantic ending with Nicholas. Mia always believed in raisingthe leg by knee when kissing the right person, and it is nice how it
turns out with Nicholas at a most unexpected time.
The
exciting and funny activity of sliding on mattress was given a royal
touch by the queen by surfing on it, standing. The fun-loving
character of the responsible Queen is nicely brought out occasionally
as the movie flows. The song she sings brings back the memories of
wonderful and musical movie Julie Andrews casted as Maria several
decades back, The Sound of Music.
The
loyalty of the royal servants were highly outlined throughout the
movie. Their fondness for the royals were immense. It emphasis at the
coronation of the new queen. The new head of royal guard whispers
“The sparrow is taking off” and the way Charlotte replies
is very touching. The tone of her voice and expression on her face
emphasis her love, respect and loyalty to the Queen. She said “The
eagle is flying.. for the last time” in a trembling voice.
Mia
has not changed. The closest thing and people she had when she was
just Mia is still with her. Her mother, Lily and Fat Louie. And, her
mischievousness is still there, but under control, though she winked
at Nicholas right after the coronation.
Presenting,
her majesty, Amelia Migonette Thermopolis Renaldi, Queen of Genovia".
