The Fault in Our Stars

The name itself showed that it is not gonna be “and they lived happily ever after” movies. From the beginning itself it was clear that one of the kids are gonna die at the end of the movie. It was almost clear that the main turning points of the movie within the first few minutes; a girl with cancer, meets a guy who 'shares the same journey', they'll fall in love with each other and one will die at the end. But the beauty of this movie is it was delivered in simply a much much more emotional way.

Today the movie review is on "The Fault in Our Stars" an American movie directed by Josh Boone and written by John Green. Key roles of Hazel was by and as Gus.

The key messages delivered in this movie are that the cancer victims also have a lovely life, they are brave, and fight for life. On the other hand their family members fight much much harder to make them happy and to be coped up with all the mental pressure and endless difficulties and yet wear an encouraging smile, throughout. They completely dedicate their lives to these sick kids and once the kids are gone, the parents are lost and they feel that their journey has come to an end. The author (Peter Van Houten) of the book “An Imperial Affliction” which Hazel used to read number of times apparently happened to be a parent of this kind. He has written the book and was living a lonely, tough life almost hidden from the society.

Death is a certain factor for every living being despite the fact that they are rich or poor or happy or sad or healthy or not. But the main roles of this movie, Hazel and Gus, they live each day walking one step closer to their death. But then what's the difference if every living being is walking one step towards the death each day? Think...

Hazel Grace is an intelligent girl in her teens whose companion is a tank of oxygen that helps her breath. Was identified as a cancer victim at the age of 13 and has undergone number of surgeries and health issues ever since. She meets Augustus Waters who shares the same journey (as the Dr. Maria says) at a “Support Group” a joyous person who has lost one leg to his illness. They soon fall for each other and the story flows on along with growing pains and love.

They both are brave and fighters. It was nicely highlighted in several situations. First is how Hazel explains her illness to an unknown little kid who she met at the Airport. Another instance is, once when Hazel was really sick, and she couldn't breath, the nurse has asked her about the pain. Hazel has raised 9 fingers to indicate that she can fight more. After she was recovered, the nurse has said “You call 10 a 9”. This is a uniqueness that she shares with Gus.

That was one side of the movie, another side that really fascinated me was how it shows the commitment of their parents. Hazel's mother, was a very pleasant lady with a smile on her face, always. No matter what the situation, she treated Hazel with lot of patience and with an encouraging smile and words. This nature was quite similar in Hazel's father and Gus's parents as well. However, Hazel's mother provides a great example for the parents in such situations.

This movie is around set of cancer victims and their families. They live each day walking towards the death. In one point it struck me that, it's not just them, but all are.. only difference is that they are quite sure that they gonna die to a cancer. But others.. have no clue of how they gonna die. In Hazel's words “"But, in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer. Depression is a side effect of dying. (Cancer is also a side effect of dying. Almost everything is, really.)" ”

This is a beautiful movie.. but like any other movie, reality is lot more tougher than this...

The Legend of Korra : The Calling (Season 4 Episode 4)

Let go of the fear

Toph was right. We tend to step back of the things we desire to do because of the fear within. We make our experience and suffering, an excuse to stay away from being hurt again. But actually, it was all over. We will not face an identical experience ever again. So Let go of the fear attached to the past experiences. Think anew! Whatever you come across, good or bad, will add new experience to your life. Failing to do so, you will not be able to live in the present, which will result in an empty past in few years time. Because today is tomorrow's past.

In this episode Korra meets Toph in a swamp where she was led by a cute spirit. Toph, swamp and finding a way when lost reminds the Avatar fans back to the first TV series, The Last Air Bender. Aang found Toph in a swamp as a cute little girl wearing long white dress when in search of a Earth bending master.

The history repeats in a new form when the blind Toph showed Korra the way out of her inner turmoil just as she showed Aang how to master earth bending. In today's case she enlightened Korra who was unknowingly fighting with her fears and enemies of the past. In one point Toph said, “you can't expect to deal with future enemies if you are still fighting the old ones.”. This is pretty impressive, if we live in the past there will be no space left for the future or present not only the enemies, but also for everything.

"It was a team effort"
Commenting on the humour which always plays a major role throughout the entire Avatar TV series; it was a hilarious to see how Toph the old lady fights with young and energetic Korra. And to make things more obvious, the blind Toph was not even fighting, she was just moving here and there to avoid Korra's aggressive shots.

The episode begins with the scene of Tenzin delegating the responsibility of finding Korra to his beloved young three children. This is the first time he lets go of his own kids and counted on them which turned out to be a good decision as in the end we see the notorious Meelo agreeing that finding Korra was a team effort.

So.. as the final note, what do you all think of this, “Let go of the fear” which is very well highlighted in this episode? Have you ever been held up by your past fears? Share your thoughts in comments.

Take Me Home Tonight

This is not one of the best movies I watched. But there are certain things that caught my attention. Halfway through the movie I made it clear that i'm not gonna write about this. But as I reached the last part, I thought I should come out and write about, The. Main. Story.

There are three stories going on, if I make it clear, story of Matt, story of Wendy & story of Barry. I'm focusing on the story of Matt, the handsome looking, smart guy from MIT, who used one of the 'two words' in almost every sentence he spoke.

“Tori Fredreking, is back” the starting words, of the movie, said by this cool guy named Matt, shorten form of Matthew Franklin ( Topher Grace ), to his, umm, the stuck up looking friend, Barry ( Dan Fogler ) . “Seven minutes in heaven” is the entry point to flash back to tenth grade, on how the game 'truth or dare' got himself and Tori ( Teresa Palmer ) in to a closet, and how she said the entire party after they came out, that guy is an. Amazing. Kisser. The funny part is, he had never kissed her. This starts painting an image of Matt & Tori, in the eyes of the audience. Another point that caught my attention was how Matt and Windy ( Anna Faris ) speaks the same words together. “.........how do you know what I was gonna say.......”. This is the first signal of them being twins. And this thought is confirmed by the very next statement Barry makes.

The touch of humour is nicely spread throughout the movie starting the hilarious situation of Barry turing the entire Suncoast Video store,  upside down in the process of giving 'the lady' his phone number in order to date.

The intro is sound and colourful. Once you watch the movie you'll know exactly what this means, will leave it for you to enjoy.

The movie lasts for one day starting from how Matt meets Tori at the Suncoast Video store and the mentioning of a party that night. The story flows on how Matt got Tori's attention and made it the best night he ever lived. Towards the end of the movie Matt finds it even more difficult on deciding what he wants in life and what's the path he should choose to succeed in life. It's pretty funny the way he asked Tori's phone number after all the happenings of that ONE day.

I should highlight this little speech he made, which is the summary of the movie:

“I dont know what I'm doing up here, i'm scared. You know what, I had been so afraid of my life, that I missed my life, but i'm like all of you. We are all scared. I mean c;mon admit it. We are trying to be something that we are not, but tonight, all of that changes, tonight, I'm not afraid”

The story of Matt is a nice one. Apart from that, him being a twin, the presentation of twin spirit is lovely. So, Enjoy, the story of Matt, in Take Me Home Tonight.

Princess Diaries 2 : Royal Engagement

Mia graduated from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School and flying back to her beloved Genovia with Joe (her bodyguard) and FatLouie (cat). The fist impression of the viewer on Mia, is hold back for a fair amount of time as her face was not shown till she appears on her 21st birthday party. From the beginning it is proved that Mia has successfully followed her Princess lessons as she behaved calmly and without making a fuss of everything she touches as in Princess Diaries 1. Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) reveals at beginning, even before her face is shown on screen (of course not the pre-princess face) that she has not fall in love yet.

The eyes which were looking for the Prince charming rested on the eyes of a handsome young man who happened to bump into her at the birthday party. The humour is present almost everywhere without harming the royalty values and flow of the story. Humour is weaved through the (traditional) dancing with all the eligible bachelors and along with the maids' habits of shadowing the Princess every now and then which result in Princess whispering in her own castle to hide from the maids.

Mia's Princess lessons were always well fed with humour. The lesson on how to Shoot the flaming arrow to the ceremonial ring made all the people and objects in the garden, victims. The spare leg for horse riding promised to be a hilarious one. Somehow the spare leg could not make a happy ending while, shooting the arrow made a romantic ending with Nicholas. Mia always believed in raisingthe leg by knee when kissing the right person, and it is nice how it turns out with Nicholas at a most unexpected time.

The exciting and funny activity of sliding on mattress was given a royal touch by the queen by surfing on it, standing. The fun-loving character of the responsible Queen is nicely brought out occasionally as the movie flows. The song she sings brings back the memories of wonderful and musical movie Julie Andrews casted as Maria several decades back, The Sound of Music.

The loyalty of the royal servants were highly outlined throughout the movie. Their fondness for the royals were immense. It emphasis at the coronation of the new queen. The new head of royal guard whispers “The sparrow is taking off” and the way Charlotte replies is very touching. The tone of her voice and expression on her face emphasis her love, respect and loyalty to the Queen. She said “The eagle is flying.. for the last time” in a trembling voice.

Mia has not changed. The closest thing and people she had when she was just Mia is still with her. Her mother, Lily and Fat Louie. And, her mischievousness is still there, but under control, though she winked at Nicholas right after the coronation.

Presenting, her majesty, Amelia Migonette Thermopolis Renaldi, Queen of Genovia".

See you soon with a new review. Until then, share a comment who watched this movie.

Roswell - TV Series

"I'm Liz Parker and five days ago, I died. After that, things got really weird."

Starting from this weird line, the story flows, making the viewer sad, astound, scared, amazed, happy and the list goes on. Most out of all possible emotions are carved into the story in a very mild manner that the viewers get attached to it without even themselves knowing. For the entire three seasons the main four characters, Liz, Max, Micheal and Isabel along with others who comes and goes make the viewers enthusiastic.
The story is based on the spaceship crash took place in 1947. The long kept secret of Max, Michael and Isabel revealed from one to another as the story rolls on initiating by the shooting incident which took place at Crashdown cafe. The starting statement was made as a result of this incident by Liz Parker on her journal.

The TV series engage audience very well with the uniqueness of the story. On my opinion, it has many serious situations than happy moments. Despite the fact that they, the human alien hybrids, are struggling to be alive among the human alien hunters and other aliens who want them killed, they had to play the role of responsible son/daughter, specially Max and Isabel. Hence, the whole TV series is nurtured with seriousness, uncertainty, fear and temporary relaxation and suspiciousness. This doesn't mean that humour is totally lost. Although the lightness of teenage life is somewhat deviated with the responsibilities of the Alien King and subordinates, the humour is present and very well injected to the relevant places.

See you soon with some new views on Roswell. Until then, stay tuned.
